Right at this moment there are probably three people in your life who need a story more than they need vitamins or counselling. The right story at the right time is like a star that the soul can follow. Each soul has a unique journey and a universal journey. Story Medicine is a ten week part time course that shows you how to make unique stories out of the universal patterns to be found in stories from all over the world. The stories you write become part of your medicine bag so that you can guide and heal those in need.

In this course you will learn how to grow your imagination by developing a picture language. This picture language can be honed to create stories for specific transition points in the life of the child and in the life of the adult.

Horst Kornberger has developed a step-by-step creative process based on his insights into Rudolf Steiner Education and archetypal patterns in stories and myths. Participants in this course do not need to have any previous experience in story making. The process of story making begins with the simplest of exercises and builds gradually. The core of the work is the creating, writing and sharing of stories in a supportive environment. The course will also provide you with the key to understand the meaning of fairy tales and myths and show you how to heal with the humorous story.

Story Medicine will teach you how to:
  • access your imagination;
  • write your own stories;
  • use the picture language of the soul;
  • create therapeutic stories;
  • heal with the humorous story;
  • understand the meaning of fairy tales and myths;
  • work with the age appropriate story;
  • gain insight into patterns of story medicine.
The core of the work is the creating, writing and sharing of stories in a supportive environment.

Students say...

Rhea Pfeifle on Working the Word

"Ironically, I'm finding it hard to find words to describe my experience in the Working the Word course. I say 'ironically' because during the course, words simply bubbled up from some previously undetected source deep in my creativity.

This course is structured in such a way that everyone in the course had original ideas, allusions, metaphors and sentiments presenting themselves week after week. We were all stunned and entirely convinced by what we would write in each exercise.

The process is so carefully structured. Each exercise is imbedded into the experience of a specific periods of human experience from which we can all draw. Horst describes it so clearly that even if I wasn't born a Greek legend or a Roman Emperor, I now feel strongly that I know what it could have been like.

I've written convincingly as if I was Ulysses and then as Mark Antony. And, of course, it's that stepping into another's experience is so vital for writing with conviction. This is the magic and joy of the course. I loved the journey through the depth of human experience through history.

I feel greatly enriched at having found a voice, my authentic voice in writing."
